Some of these measures include; - Inspection programs - Design and construction practices - Workforce qualifications - Industry safety practices - Pipeline markers and facility mapping In conjunction with these measures Egoli Gas also maintains well established relationships with local authorities ward councillors and emergency services for continued safety and service delivery. Detecting a gas leakAs a consumer you are able to recognise a gas leak by means of smell, sight or sound.Smell:As natural gas is colourless and odourless, a distinctive, pungent odour, similar to rotten eggs, is added to enable you to recognise it quickly.Sight:Due to the constant pressure being applied throughout our pipeline network, leaks will cause the gas to be viewed as a hazy cloud, mist, fog or escaping bubbles in standing water.Sound:The constant pressure also attributes to an abnormal noise such as hissing, whistling or droning. |
