Industrial
Power your commercial and industrial operations with green-friendly natural gas. With a calorific value (energy content) of approximately 40 MJ/m³, natural gas manufacturing processes that require heat to melt, dry, incinerate, treat, steam, bake or glaze are immediately more energy-efficient, reduce wastage and lower maintenance costs on equipment.
The bottom line is that natural gas means renewable business for a sustainable future.
Applications
Equipment such as turbines, boilers, furnaces, ovens or industrial / commercial heating systems used to manufacture anything from fabrics, glass, steel, plastics, paint, foodstuffs and any other products.
It can also be used to generate electricity where you require a guaranteed continuity of supply and the by-products from the gas engine can be used in Combined Heating & Power (CHP or Co-Generation) or Combined Heating, Cooling & Power (CHCP or Tri-Generation) processes to further increase the efficiency of your plant - refer to New Generation power sources for more information.
Benefits
- Earn carbon credits for your company and get branded as an environmentally green business
- Natural gas is sulphur-free so equipment lasts longer
- Conversion needs no fire department inspections and approvals
- Hazardous storage facilities are eliminated since energy is supplied via a pipeline network
Energy saving tips for boilers
- Preheat combustion air with waste heat.
- Use variable speed drives on large boilers and close burner air and/or stack dampers when they are off to retain heat
- Fix steam leaks, condensate leaks and use more-efficient steam desuperheating methods
- Use back pressure steam turbines to produce lower steam pressures
- Check process temperatures are correctly controlled, maintain lowest acceptable process steam pressures and reduce hot water wastage to drain
- Preheat boiler feed-water, recover boiler blowdown, check operation of steam traps, remove air from indirect steam using equipment
- Use waste steam for water heating
- Establish a steam efficiency-maintenance program
- Ensure steam and hot water piping is properly lagged and clad (insulated)
HOW TO GET CONNECTED
- Please contact our Customer Service department on 011 - 356 5000 or e-mail us at cservice@egoligas.co.za
- You need to supply us with your address in order for us to verify whether you are on our gas network.
- We will send an Egoli Gas staff member to your business to verify where our pipeline runs and to point out where the connection point will be.
- A qualified gas fitter will need to be employed to install the
internal piping to the connection point at the
boundary of the property. The gas fitter will issue a certificate of compliance. - Once we receive a completed application, with a copy of the
relevant ID, proof of payment of the connection fee and
deposit as well as the compliance certificate, a meter will be installed and the gas service connected.
Please note - To be successfully connected can
take up to 8 weeks due to way leave, open trench way leaves and
other council
applications which Egoli Gas applies for.
