    The lead time to get connected is dependent on several statutory factors such as wayleave application to Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA), wayleave approvals by several other utilities, Egoli Gas Engineering and HSE site investigations, customer metering station design, customer metering station manufacturing, planning and scheduling to install service.

    The lead time and service installation date will be determined by Egoli Gas Planning Department and will be communicated through the specific Egoli Gas Business Development Consultant.

  • A:

    It’s a volumetric term and the unit measurement for Natural Gas.

    1 Gigajoule is equivalent to 19Kg of LPG

  • A:

    Natural gas is a fossil fuel and we won’t be running out for generations. Some resources are able to be recycled and others can be recovered.

  • A:

    Natural gas is referred to as “piped gas” or “reticulated gas”. Natural gas is a colourless hydrocarbon rich gas largely made up of methane. It burns cleanly and produces no smoke, dust or ash. It is piped to the pavement boundary of the end user where a service connection will be done on end users reticulation (internal gas line)

    LPG is liquefied petroleum gas usually made by a mix of propane and butane. LPG gas is delivered to the end user in cylinders.

    Egoli Gas shall be entitled to adjust the gas price at least once annually (1 July) on written notice to the Oath taker, based on a pass through from our Supplier, Operational cost increase and CPI.

    In accordance with our safety culture, Egoli Gas insists that each and every natural gas appliance and or equipment installed and used be registered and approved by a competent gas installer as well as all private fitters/contractors working on the internal piping of our customers and the Egoli Gas network be registered with SAGA. www.saqccgas.co.za

    Regular inspection, cleaning and maintenance ensures your safety and helps keep your gas equipment operating at its optimum. A registered gas fitter should install your gas equipment. When selecting a fitter, make sure that personnel are SAGA licensed gas fitters and experienced at installing gas equipment. www.saqccgas.co.za

  • A:

    We measure natural gas by volume in cubic meters (m3). This value is then converted to a unit of energy. The metric standard for energy content is Joule (J). Your invoice is based on the amount of energy you use and measured in Gigajoules. One (1) Gigajoule is equal to 1,000,000,000 Joules.

  • A:

    Egoli Gas is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the gas service line that extends from the street to the boundary of your property. From the meter flange a registered gas practitioner will be responsible for your internal piping and needs to issue a COC and pressure test certificate to yourself and Egoli Gas prior to gas being supplied into your property. As a customer, it is your responsibility to maintain the gas piping directly after the Egoli Gas meter flange at the boundary of your property.
