Continued Gas Supply Beyond 2028 and Transition to (MRG)

Further to our letter dated 14 January 2026, we would like to sincerely thank all customers who have granted our teams access to their properties. Your cooperation has been greatly appreciated.

The appliance audit is continuing as planned and forms part of our preparation for the transition to Methane-Rich Gas (MRG), scheduled to commence in 2028. This process ensures that all connected appliances are verified, recorded, and where necessary, assessed for compatibility with the future gas specification.

Pipeline gas remains: Convenient and instantly available and our network infrastructure remains a critical and dependable part of future energy supply to all our existing and future customers.

The transition in 2028 is a minor change in gas specification, not a discontinuation of service. Customers will continue to enjoy the same convenience, reliability, and efficiency associated with Egoli Gas, with a seamless switchover to Methane-Rich Gas.

Egoli Gas has been in operation for almost a 100 years. A privately owned company with a long and stable history, we remain firmly committed to the sustainable supply of piped gas to our customers for decades to come.

As we approach 2028, Egoli Gas is undertaking extensive planning and investment to ensure a smooth and seamless transition from natural gas to Methane Rich Gas.
